I am now the proud owner of a Winchester 1895 in .35 WCF. I have some brass on the way and need to get some dies still. Any suggestions on where to start with powder and bullets?

200 or 250 grain RN. When you can find them. IMR 4064 works great. Will send you some load data when I can get out to my notebook in the shop. I’ve set elk up the Green River with both the Hornady 200 RN and discontinued 250’s. Still have a box of the 250’s. Got a good cozy load for the 200’s.

And congrats on the new acquisition!!!

Ok. My all star load for the 200 grain Hornady RN was 46 grains of IMR 4064 I’ve pretty much settled on this load as it’s easy on my rather gimpish right shoulder. (As for elk I’ll probably use my .30 US Army with 220 RN’s from now on.)

With the 250 RN, I loaded 48 grains IMR 4320. I think old son ( who also shoots a .35 WCF) has a 4064 load worked up for the 250’s. Let be do some checking with him.

Just heard back from old son. He said that he’s loaded 47 grains IMR 4064 behind the 250 grain Speer Hot-cors. He said he feels they are the best projectile going right now for the .35 WCF. They are a real hog hammer.
