Anyone with (or not) a 50 Alaskan conversion on the Marlin have any comments on the subject ? I am toying with this idea. Thanks.

I don't have one, but one of my hunting partners is agunsmith and builds tons of .50's on Marlins. He has a website leveractions.com, take a look at it. Don't expect him to answer an email, he is in South Africa at the moment hunting with his .38-56.

This thread has re-awakened a thought I've had for awhile.
Would it be feasible to chamber the 475 Linebaugh in a Marlin?
About 3 or 4 yrs ago Marlin announced this chamber in the catalog, but the rifles never materialized. I heard they weren't happy with the remaining chamber wall thickness combined with the pressures involved.

Does anyone know if Marlin was being over cautious? Could it be done on a custom basis?

Think M. L. McPherson builds the 475 Linebaugh on the Marlin 1894. Also builds a couple of 50-caliber pistol cartridges on the Marlin.

Another very good gunsmith to contact for either of these conversions is Ben Forkin in White Sulpher Springs Mt.
