Anybody know where to buy a bore guide for a marlin 45/70? I want to remove the bolt and clean it from the breech.
Thanks,
Dan
Ok found one at Graf's and son's.
Drill out the back of a cartridge.
The only reason for a bore guide is so you can clean from the muzzle and not bugger up the crown. I suspect there is some punctuation missing from the OP.
Anyways, once you pull the bolt, (which is very easy), you clean from the breach without a guide.
Well, it does help keep cleaning solvents out of the action and trigger, and helps keep the rod centered so it doesn't wear the throat similar to how a rod wears a muzzle.
