Anyone use this caliber for really big game like moose, or elk? How was performance and whats some favourite bullets cast or jacketed?

Larry Wyshune (SP) , Gun writer, used one out of a TC Contender for elk. But he was able to use spritzers sine it was a single shot.

Rebored a model 64 barrel to 38/55. Either 3031 or 4895 will send a 230 grain cast at 2100 with accuracy. The jacketed 220 Hornady or Vollmer will be tested this winter. Nice lightweight rifle with good horsepower for our grizzly infested hills. I’m using Winchester 38/55 brass. The 375 will run faster of course. I tried a big bore 375 but I don’t care for straight stocked lever guns.

Killed my biggest black bear with a Savage 99 in 375. One shot, not a quiver. Now carry a 18" carbine in a 99 and I love this thing. Killed deer and bear and good performance with the WInchester 200 grain load for me. Still waiting to try the Sierra 200 and Hornady 220 handloads I have on big game. Shoot the 220 Hornady's in a 1899 38-55 and they do very well shooting across the ravine at rocks, but no big game tests yet. Something about shooting a 375 reminds me of being a kid and shooting a 22 LR. I should mention I tend to stretch out my shooting way beyond the norm for what most people think works for a 375. Maybe that's what reminds me of the 22LR. Anyway, shooting one seems very intuitive to me.
