Just curious if anyone has used the so-called Gould hollow point express bullet on game? I'm loading some at around 1200fps with a hardness of 11 out of my Marlin CBA 45-70. Shoots good but I don't currently have the ability to do tests for expansion, etc. curious if anyone here has used it and what they think of this throwback to the 1890's

I cast this bullet from scrape wheel weights.BHN about 10.5.. Driven at about 1500 fps out of my Marlin XLR 45-70 24" bbl. it delivers excellent accuracy. About 150yds is as far as I care to shoot this bullets as gravity takes it down fast beyond this point. With in 150yds it is a devastating deer bullet. Very capable of heavier game. On adult muley bucks it tends to give complete penetration.You don't want to hit shoulders with it. Can be quite destructive. Easy to cast .

I too have gotten fine accuracy with them. If they stomp a Mule Deer they'll work fine for these East Coast whitetails. Where are you out West? I grew up in Northern Nevada thinking all deer were 250 pounds and a deer rifle was a 270 winchester. Good to know that they're easy to cast. I'm buying them from a local guy right now at a reasonable rate but keeping an eye out for this mold to start casting with when the weather warms up. Too cold in VT to keep the garage door open right now.
