Anyone have any load data for a 33 Winchester with Hawks 200gn Flat nose bullets?

Haven't tried the Hawk bullets yet but I've had good luck with the Buffalo Arms 200 gr. slugs with H4895. The best accuracy I got from a 1908 made '86 was the start charge in hornadys manual 35.1gr H4895. IMR 3031 has worked good for me too with bullets cast from Lyman .338320. Might want to give Hawk a call or email I've heard something about them being soft copper needing to be loaded a little lighter than normal gliding metal jackets.
Hope this helps.

I just loaded up 20 Hornady flat noses with 41.0 of 4064 per John Barsness's book....wanted to use the 4895 but I only have IMR4895 on hand frown

I have used 200 gr flat pts by Hawk in the 1886 Winchester and Model 71 pre-war. 40 grs of 4064 will work.
I prefer 4198 as it produces 2000 FPS with 200 gr Hawks or 200 gr Hornadys (no longer made).
The Hawk bullets WORK-Andy Hill has sent me some 160 gr 338 FP-but thats a bit light-they will work, however.

I prefer the full 200 gr FP because they replicate the original bullet weight. With 33 or 33.5 grs of 4198-any
deer hit by a 200 gr Hawk will sink fast.
Almost all of the bucks I have shot were under 100 yards-stalk or still hunted.

Beautiful. I have the 4198 now. I loaded 10 up with 37 of 4064 but haven't had a chance to shoot them yet. I also picked up the "Hornady" FPs from Buffalo Arms. They look identical to the original Hornady so I have high hopes for them too.

Maybe I should order some of the Hawks for my 71 too.

I say try them in any rifle you want. The dead soft copper jacket and core will really work. I haven't shot a game animal with my 250 gr 9MMs in my 05 Steyr M/S. They are 0.354". They will kill anything you should be shooting with that caliber rifle. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

The Hawk bullets work really well in the 1886 at velocities around 2100-2200 FPS. I used a 270 gr Hawk bullet
on a Alaskan bull moose in a Model 71-348 Ackley Improved. One shot stop.
That combination would probably last a lifetime in Alaska. Stopping power equivalent to a 405 WCF
with much more sectional density
Also have 400 gr Hawks in a 450 Alaskan.
