I am looking to put a peep sight on an older Marlin 39-a. I believe it was made in 1946. Skinner sight will not fit, as there is only 1 screw hole in the top of the receiver. Any recommendations as to what sight will work?
Skinner also makes a barrel mount peep that uses the original dovetail. You'd have to check with them about dovetail size.
Is there not a tang site option for that vintage rifle?
Is the 39a pre drilled on the receiver (side)? If so a Lyman 66 mc is what you want.
Thanks, I’ll check into those options.

The member Gizzy knows his 39A rifles.
Hope you find success. Peep sights and lever .22s go together like potatoes and gravy.
Although not as "appropriate" as an older Lyman or a tang sight, if your rifle has the two holes on the side of the receiver, the Williams receiver sight will fit. It uses the same same two holes as the Lyman,.
I think the old Lyman 56 is the Cadillac of 39A receiver sights. That’s what I have on my ‘54.
