I love reading the new-to-me 39A threads, and I can finally add one of my own!

I shot a friend's Mountie when I was a teenager and I've wanted a 39A ever since. I actually had one years ago, but for various reasons had to let it go. When the opportunity arose to acquire this one, I jumped on it.

It's dated to 1950. I took it to an indoor range just to check the sights and it ran everything like butter, and everything landed point-of-aim out to the 25-yard backstop. That's about how far my first game shot with the rifle was a week later. This jack went straight down to an off-hand shot with older eyes and open sights. Looks like the start to a beautiful friendship!

Those 39a's are great.I bought mine in 1975 new for a $125.It is accurate as hell.I put a scope on it in 2010.I knew it was accurate with open sights, but man, with a scope I was shooting at bullet holes and hitting them often at fifty yards.
Looks like you did well. Love these threads myself and can’t wait until I can post another one myself.
AZ, how would you like to have another Mountie?
Muleshoe...I've been "acquiring" too much here lately. And that 39A I mentioned letting go - well, I may have a chance to get it back. Having said that, my wife is not a member of the Campfire, so feel free to shoot me a PM with what you might be thinking? smile
Was thinking of a swap.

Yeah, my wife doesn't venture in here either. grin
Have a ‘77 on the way. It will be scoped.
I have three of them '76,77',78. All have scope mount and hammer ext. for them. Not on them just got lucky and came with them. Got 1200.00 in all three. They are great shooters. Sounds like you got a good one enjoy it.
