I know it's not a lever rimfire but this is the closest Forum I could think of so what has happened to all the Rossi 62 pumps. I guess people are holding onto them. I had two different rifle versions and really liked them and thought they would around for many years to come so wasn't worried about holding onto one but now am wanting to play with one again and they are hard to find. The ones on GB have gotten outrageous as usual for GB.

Steve............
I have both the Winchester Model 62 and Rossi Model 62's. From what I understand, parts are interchangeable between the two. The Winchesters have gone up in value considerably in the last 10 years. The last Winchester 62 I bought was $350.00 and that was some 15 years ago and only in 50-60% condition The Rossi's have gone up in value as well. I've seen Rossi's on GB go for $500.00 in 95% condition. Are the Rossi's good? IMO, yes, just as good and accurate as the Winchesters. Some will cry foul when they read this, but I have shot them side by side and if I were blindfolded, I could not tell them apart.

I really liked my Rossi 62 rifles and remember you used to see them at Pawn shops on a regular basis but I haven't seen one in a Pawn shop in a long time. I myself see them on GB going for up to $500 or $600. Looks like I should have kept mine, LOL.

You can always pickup the new half plastic Rossi pump gun, but in my eyes they don't compare to the older Winchester lookalike.

Sorry Timbo that's not gonna happen. Worse comes to worse I can just remember when I had mine and kinda get by, LOL.

Does Taurus still make one? I have one, haven't shot it much though.

I don't believe Taurus makes one anymore, after they bought Rossi I believe they put out the Mdl. 62 for a little while, I heard the Taurus rifles were pretty good. The current pump is definitely not a Mdl.62.

I've got a couple of the Taurus 62LA lever actions, they seem OK, just wish they didn't have that safety in the bolt. The lever on these look like they have a weak spot, so I'm very careful with them. From what I can find out these were only made in the last year Taurus made rifles, you just don't see many of them.

Here's a link with some information.... for those who can read Portuguese - carabina-taurus-lever-action-mod-62-la

Here's one of mine, you can see the lever has a thin spot which I think could bend or break if worked hard.

Gene, do you have any of the Rossi/Taurus Mdl. 62 pumps though?

Steve, I have a Rossi 62 carbine, it's been a long time since it's been out of the safe, it think it has a 16" or 18" barrel. It's before any extra safeties were added. It has a very smooth action but the parts seem to fit together a lot looser than the old Winchesters did, the bolt has a lot of wiggle with the action opened. I've never tried swapping parts from between the Taurus lever, the Rossi and a Winchester, something that I might try some day, it would be interesting to see how close they all are.

Too bad on the Taurus, my takedown pump is fun to shoot.
