An aquaintance is offering me a pair of Marlin lever rimfires.

Model 39's, I think they were 39M. They had some gold lettering. Seems like they were called "golden trail" or something like that.

Plain walnut strait stock. Hooded front sight. Weaver rings and cheap scopes. He said they have been stored 15 plus years and they look it. Not rusty just dusty/dirty. But after some cleaning I would guess they would be around 95% or maybe a little better.

$600. Are they worth it?

Sounds high under the circumstances. I would think $500 is more like it.

I disagree. The 39Ms are hard to find nowdays and bring about 350-400 apiece in good shape.

I just bought a 39M (manufactured in 1977) that was in excellent condition (not a mark or scratch on it) with weaver base and cheap 4x32 scope, paid $300.

I just bought two 39A's. One made in 1985, probably about a 98% rifle, I paid $345.00 for it.

The other, is an ANIB 39A, made in 1982, I paid $395.00 for it.

From the prices I see around here, I got pretty good deals on both of the rifles.

Around my neck of the woods they would be right on the mark for that price, maybe a tad more.
