Just got my 1st rimfire lever gun, a 9422Mag. What a well put together gun! Wood and bluing are almost perfect(got it used thru Gunsamerica). This looks like a rifle that is expensive to make, guess thats why they are being discontinued. I will shoot it this weekend.

Were/are all of these made in the U.S.?

Glad you made a good deal. All 9422s I have seen from older XTRs to the last ones on the rack today are marked "Made in USA". There is a lot of info on 9422s on the Rimfire Central website.

The 9422m is a honey, isn't it. I put a Wms. receiver sight on mine, and it is a pure treat to tote around in the woods when I'm out there for no particular reason.

Carlos, when you installed the receiver sight I assume you removed the factory rear sight. Did you leave the slot empty or find a blank to fill the slot, or install a folding rear sight?
Did the Williams clamp down into the scope mounting grooves?

I put a blank in the dovetail slot, for no particular reason. They don't cost much.

The Williams sight screws to the left side of the receiver, and the peep is centered over the receiver on an L.

While I was at it I put a different front sight on it to go with the new rear sight. I don't remember the brand, but it has a white stripe up the back. It stands out real well against dark objects in the woods, like leaf wads that look like crows, for example.

Hooded front sights are great for targets, and I have one on my target .22, but they really slow me down when I'm trying to spot a target in the field.

Carlos,

Looking at mine, all I see on the left side(both sides really) is the large take down screw way down towards the bottom. Did you have yours drilled and tapped?

If so, that gives me "justification" for buying another 9422-gotta keep one mint, right?

Gator 1,
Willams makes a peep sight that mounts to the scope grooves on a 9422.
I put one on my Legacy, with a taller front sight to match.
Makes a nice set-up, with no drilling....

Thanks V.,

Did you also get the front sight from Williams?

Got the Willams peep and taller front sight from Brownells.
Also found both at MidSouth Shooters Supply.

I was given a 9422 xtr a couple of years ago. My wife's friends boyfriend needed somebody to help him move (out of his 3rd story apartment.) I was the only person that showed up. At the end of the day he said," I have something that you will enjoy more than I have." He handed me a 9422 that had been sitting in his closet for 10-15 years. I took it to the range and it would extract rounds, but not eject. I took it to a gunsmith that sat on for so long that he did the repair absolutly free, parts and all. Works great now, set it up with the Williams sight that fits in the grooves and a taller front sight. I am a Marlin guy, but this gun is so smooth. Smoother than my Marlin 39 that was made in 1964. They are neck in neck in accuracy though, thumbnail size 10 shot groups at 25 yards. Poor little squirrels.

I have one of the very early 9422s my dad baught new, Itis absolutely the straightest shooter I have ever seen.I may demand to be buried with it, cause there can't be a better gun even in the promised land.
