This was on a bird hunter FB page. I just thought it was funny.

"I’m looking for a 12-18 month started English setter. Can be female or male, and will be a family and hunting dog: I’d appreciate any pointers your guys could give me. Thanks! "

Over 60 years I've had WPGs, GSHs, English Setters, Llewellin Setters, and an English Pointer.

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are great versitile dogs who strike a strong loyalty with a family. English breed dogs are aloof, except for the Llewellins. They are an easy bond. All the mentioned breeds I had hunted well. The pointers and griffons more so. I have a griffon and two LLewellins now, one being an older dog, and the other a young strong bozo.

I had an English setter that was bird crazy, but hard headed. The pointers were bird machines!

If I were getting a dog as a younger guy that setter might be a good choice, but I'd get a griffon, knowing what I now know.

I hope I confused the hell out of you. wink
