Made the trip to the north woods to pursue my favorite game bird of them all.

The hunting was tough, the shooting was even worse but we found a few birds (grouse and woodcock both) Dog work was also less than stellar but we managed. Here's a few pics from the short trip.

Very nicely done!! I did a UP trip years ago and had a blast. Wish I would have waited until after a freeze (mosquitos!) and woodcock was open though.

Beautiful. Must have been a great time. My folks are from the Cadillac area. I have been there many times and have seen a ton of grouse while chasing these tiny little brook trout and an occasional medium sized brook trout. I always promised myself that I would take myself grouse hunting there but in the end, I broke my heart. And I was in that area last year in October but I still didn't go hunting. I'll have a hard time forgiving myself.

They can have their pheasant hunting. There’s just something about woodcock and grouse hunting in the north!
