Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I know I can take 200 rounds of ammo into Canada for bird hunting. How is duty figured if I want to take more and pay the duty on it? I've looked at various sites but can't find how it's determined.

Thanks for any help.

I've been asked what I paid for the ammo and then it was converted into Canadian dollars and then duty was charged on it. The duty charge typically ran 10% but sometimes ranged between 8% and 15% for me and my buddies over the years. I don't know if duty is a set amount or varied according to the exchange rate but using 10% will keep you in the ballpark.

Thanks for the answer. Sounds like about what I pay in sales tax. I think it will be worth paying it to not have to go looking for ammo.
