Nice, got to give it another run shortly. Dog is driving me nuts.
Im headed that way Thursday night. Hoping I can run at least a couple to ground.

Awesome!

Were you on a WIHA?
Killed 3 of the 4 we got up today in western KS. Good to find a few again.

R they pen or wild? Thanks NC Happy New Year
My dog has only hunted wild birds on public land in Nebraska and Kansas. He's hunted some wild birds on private in CO. A guy is going to walk some miles this time of year to do well, but it beats waiting till next Nov.

Hank and I are quite jealous! Well done!
Walked 5.1 miles today in KS, Bane had to cover 15 I'd bet. Got up one rooster in range and got him. Had a lot of hen points. Probably hanging it up for the year. New pup coming and need to get stuff organized. We'll be ready for fall.
I walked a hair over 20 miles last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between Dodge and Jetmore and on north of there. Me and 7 friends and uncles with 3 dogs. We probably saw 10 roosters and killed 3. Got into 3 coveys of quail and killed 7. Got into two different flocks of prairie chickens, no open season in that area but neat to see them anyway.

Saw some monster mulie bucks and a couple pretty decent whitetails. Drank some beers and ate some good food, had a great time with the guys as always. But I probably won’t be going back that way unless there’s a drastic improvement in bird numbers.

LOVE that rubber nose!

cool
Just returned from Kansas myself. Hunted from Lacross to Hugoton. Killed a couple birds north of Liberal and found a number of birds just south of Hugoton. Birds near Hugoton were in wheat stubble and mostly hens. Saw a few roosters, but they were running badly and flushing over 50 yards out. I’ve hunted Kansas for over 30 years and it’s hard to believe how low the bird population is. Something needs to change before I go back.

Thank you sir, he's a keeper.
Looks like a blast
Saw several posts here about low numbers of birds. I’m originally from north of Jetmore, and have hunted our family farm multiple times per year since the mid 1960s. Over the years, the bird numbers have fluctuated a lot.
In 2010, and 2011, we took about 120 roosters off our farm and didn’t hunt it hard.
The summer of 2012 was extremely hot and dry.
We hunted opening day in November 2012 where we had seen numerous birds and killed many the past two years. We SAW ZERO pheasants. I would not have believed it had I not been there.
The recovery has been extremely slow. I’d say that there is about 10% the population that there was pre the 2012 summer die off.

Man those were some good years around 2010. We thought we were some really good pheasant hunters then. smile. The good ol’ days. I keep going back though in hopes it returns.

2003, ME

I don't know if you've been back at all, but last time I was there a few years ago for a basketball game, it looked like a completely different town than when I left in 2003.
Yes it has changed, a lot. About lol I recognize besides the campus is Kites. Wife also a grad there, we went to few football games in the early 2000s.
