My dad and I have had tables at the Tulsa Arms Show for over 20 years, really enjoy doing this show. Since I am now interested in BPCR long range I bought a couple more rifles this past weekend at the show. The first is a Pedersoli 1874 sharps in 40-65. Very nice condition used rifle. The second is a Shiloh Sharps 1874 long range express in 45-70. This gun was ordered in 1990, guy waited 33 months to get it, and never fired it. Two of his friends ordered the exact same rifle at the same time so he always just shot theirs. Has a lot of custom features and upgrades would be over 4k to order it today. Absolutely beautiful rifle. So the 40-65 doesn't have a rear sight and the rear sight on the shiloh just looks like it is more decorative than usable. I know I want a soule type windage adjustable sight. Any recommendations for which one to buy? I posted a thread on another forum and got several answers, MVA, Kelly Soule, Baldwin, Hoke and Shaver. Does anyone think any of these guys would cut a deal on two sights? Probably going to replace the front sights as well with a globe with a level in it. Thoughts? Thanks!
My preference is MVA on the rear and Baldwin on the front. The Hoke sights are good as well.
Ordered a super grade Lee Shaver last night with his front sight after several conversations with him. Great guy to talk to.
Hoke on the back and Baldwin on the front has worked really well for me. Pedersoli ‘74 Sharps .45-70.
I have a MVA on my Shiloh sharps. I like it.
