Boys, ran across a Farmington three band .52 (or .54) caliber musket-rifle...it is new, (well, that is as new as a 40 year old rifle can be)... Straight plain Walnut, patchbox ect. When I go back to NOT BUY IT, what should I look for? Price is...unspeakable.
That whole setup begins and ends with the breeching components being clean, lightly oiled, and rust free.
Ones that were "only fired a coupla' times",...and then poorly cleaned CAN be a major PITA.

No Sir, this is a new gun.
NEAT !

.........with a properly cast / fitted hollow base conical, those things are capable of damn fine accuracy.
Just be attentive to keeping the recess in the forearm clean. free of tramp powder bedding.

GTC
Well, I can help you out of the pain and agony. Send me the info where and how to get it and I will take it so you won't have to fret.
grin
Those are some nice muskets.

I say that all the time. Doesn't work.
Getting weaker....weaker...
