Hello to all.
I have a project I am trying to complete, but I need a shell. I want to make one cartridge for an old 11MM Murata. I need to fire-form a shell so I can get expanded dimensions of this chamber to make a set of dies from. I can cast it too, but I like to have both the fire-formed shell and a casting.

Can anyone out there donate a shell to me? Or let me buy one?

Steve,

You got my curiosity up with that cartridge so I went digging and found that you can make cases from .348 Win brass

Interesting rifle and cartridge. A .436 caliber, 425gr PP lead bullet at over 1,400fps would make quite a "thumper".

CH4D makes dies for it. I'm glad I don't need a set. shocked

Good luck on your search.

Yes you can fire this rifles with re-formed 348s but the cases come up a bit too short. I have basic cases to make correct brass from, but I want to be totally sure of the measurements so I will cast the chamber and if possible I will also measure a fire-formed case. (If I can get one)

Your best bet for cases is likely going to be if you can get some of the Jamison/Captec 43 Spanish, or 43 mauser, but the rims are probably going to be a bit small in diameter, and then you may have some trouble until you get the cases fireformed so that it head spaces off of the shoulder instead of the rim. 43 spanish dies from Lee should get you close enough.
Chamber casting the thing will give you the best idea of what your actually dealing with, and once the cases are fire formed about the only thing need be done after that would be to deprime and clean the cases, prime charge seat a bullet and go again.

Donnelly's Cartridge Conversion Manual shows the exact (I presume) dimensions, and what it takes to make one.
