So? It's a Ford...
Getting ready to "tune" in. New F150 reveal tonight and the Bronco on 7-9.
Without further ado, the new 2021 Ford F150!

Looking good. We've had great luck with our F150's over the years.
My personal favorite feature of the new F150 is the front retractable air dam. Go off road with most trucks and the air dam is going to be torn off.

"There's an active front air dam that deploys at 40 mph, and retracts by three-quarters of an inch over rough terrain, and can retract completely if the truck goes off-road."

Ah so 20:00
Last week...
Stupid me...

It retracts a WHOLE 3/4 inch!

Oh, my that'll REALLY keep it from getting torn off, won't it?

I do like Fords, but just rip out 95% of the electrical crap already, put in a washout ready floor, and I MIGHT start looking at a new truck. Otherwise, keep selling your trucks to the asphalt cowboys...

So no one lined the press release?
After seeing the first hand results and accident report of the head-on that killed my niece and BIL this March, by the drunk in the Chevy 1500, on the new F150 my BIL was driving, you can shove that ‘military grade’ aluminum horse [bleep]. Both going about the same speed, but the Ford got peeled apart like it was made of wax, and the steel 1/2 ton of the drunk was still intact enough that the doors opened, and the P.O.S. only had a broken leg. I’ve never had good luck with any Ford, and worse with their trucks. JME, but I’ve not been anti-Ford.....but they had no protection against a heavier, steel vehicle of the same size, at the same speed. It tore them apart.
First of all, I'm saddened by your loss. My respects to your family.

It must have been an older Chevy then... https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/...aluminum-closures-higher-strength-steel/
Hh4,
Very sorry to hear about your loss. Auto accidents are awful stuff. These roads we drive on in our climate controlled cabs, are the most dangerous place in the world. The human body ain't designed for impacts much past 45 mph.

My cousin was killed by a logging truck few years ago. The lazy fk didn't clear the debris off his load. Soft ball sized rock dropped down into tire, got flung at high rate of speed and went right through her windshield, and right through her head. She was one of the kindest, best educated, hardest working and most beautiful gals in my family.

The bigger trucks tend to be safer. Local ford Superduty ambulance was hit head-on by some douch-nozzle in a hurry to get to summit lake to go snow machining. Two vehicles at highway speeds.

The medic crew and their patient were unscathed. The 1/2 chevy driver who hit the ambulance was not.

Yes, it was a 2002-ish Chevy 1500.....FWIW, my decades of owning Chevrolets ended a while back, too. I don’t own a truck for the gas mileage, or want one to be lighter than true truck stuff requires. No way to make sense of some things, so I’ll just continue to focus anger on the POS that did it and blame the truck. LOL

Crazy addendum, but my SIL who was in the passenger seat was (luckily) only concussed and had some broken ribs. She’s a Nurse Practitioner/PA, used to dealing with trauma.....but nobody should have to wear their kid and husband while trying to save them. Heckuva gut punch for us all, but there’s a plan and purpose. Thanks for the well wishes.
Fords money maker for sure. Few people realize if you build a F150 in Lariot trim or higher it will cost the same, if not more, than a comparable Super Duty.
So, is the “New” F 150 made out of steel, aluminum, or did they save weight by going to paper mache ? ?
Ford makes a really nice truck. Though, I doubt I will ever buy another Ford.
Anyone have feedback positive or negative on the newer model years?
My son's employer bought Ford for their small fleet, on this last renewal cycle, 12 pickups mixed 1/2t and 3/4t 4x4's, cost per mile is spiraling out of control from the previous cycle. And, part of this cycle has pretty low fuel costs. They are not impressed with the bottom line.
