Bought a 98 Cherokee as a project-commuter . Want to add a small lift kit, 2-3". There are a lot of options out there. Do you go all out with new springs or just add the lift blocks
The only good thing about blocks is they are cheap. I would never use blocks unless it was my only choice. Even on new springs. You're talking about 20+ year old springs that probably need replacing anyway. Get the springs.

Blocks are for girls Jeeps.
Terra Flex or Rubicon Express.

This.

Get a good set of shocks to accommodate that lift.

Going with a 3" Rough County kit with springs and shocks per installers recommendations

That’s a good fit. Keep an eye on those U-joints with the increased angle.

So what's the low down on rough country

Check the brake lines at full flex after the lift.
Tearing one off sucks.
Especially in these newer dual circuit, single reservoir brake systems.
Kinda like teenage sex, two pumps and you are done.

You are not getting everything needed to keep the proper geometry. Their quality control is crap.

Rough country has a good price point, which is why many use them. They are WalMart quality. Serviceable but not much else. Depending on what you are doing and how much you want to put into the the Jeep, they may be just fine.
You should also be replacing tie rods, ball joints, etc. at the same time as they are probably worn and changing the angles will not be good.

BDS use to make a good kit, haven't had a lift on a vehicle for a while now so not up on current offerings. Their quality is much better than RC though and good customer support.

Did a 3" rough country lift on an 89 cherokee years ago. Just your typical coil springs, a add-a-leaf, and shocks. Nothing special, but did just fine for my needs

Finally got the BDS lift installed. The BDS is a quality kit but I ordered it through Jack-It out of Utah. This company is a complete joke. Was missing a complete box of parts. It took for ever to get everything together. I will never deal with Jack-It again. The folks at BDS ended up helping me get all the parts

Looks good, what size wheel and tire did you go with?

Thanks!
245 75 17 , tires and wheels are off a Jeep Rubicon. Had to use wheel adapters

Looks good, glad you got it squared away and your parts finally arrived.

Enjoy the lift, hope it serves you well.

I could not get around my ranch or some of these Idaho so called "roads" if I did that to my Jeep Cherokee.

A Jeep Cherokee only requires a sawsall and lift blocks to fit 35's.

Clayton Offroad makes some high quality suspension parts. I'll likely put a Clayton kit in my wife's new JL Wrangler. I had a 94 ZJ Grand with a Clayton kit and it was awesome. Don't just use blocks. Do it right the first time.

My brother has had nothing but problems with his rough country Ball Joints since he had the kit installed 2-3 years ago. He replaces ball joints and Rough country keeps warrantying them.
