Had my tractor in my neighbor’s shop and used his to grease the FEL.

Just ordered a dewalt since I have a bunch of batteries and 2 chargers.

Am I the last guy to get one?

I have a compressed air one. Didn't seem to work well, but it was a cheap Harbor Frieght one.

They are pretty handy

No more balancing to work the lever or having the hose pop off the zerk. Yay.

Awhile back, I ordered and tried on of those devices that claim they won't pop off a zirk and guaranteed to open clogged zirk .Don't waste your money

Just bought one (dewalt) last summer for all the zerks on my tractor. I put it off for awhile because of the price tag, but damn it’s a handy tool. Love it.

That’s exactly my issue. Holding the barrel with one hand, the fitting on the zerk with another, and pump the handle with my extra hand.

Yup. I have plenty of dewalt batts and chargers.

What's the special coupler they have to hold them on the zerk?

Don't have that much to grease anymore, the pistol grip ones I always used
are fine.

If I was crawling on equipment, under trucks...I'd want one.

We have two Lincolns and a Milwaukee. The Lincoln batteries were getting old. So I bought a Milwaukee to use with our other batteries. The Milwaukee seems to have more oomph.

One gun has a lock n lube coupler on it. It's really works for stubborn fittings, but doesn't work if the fittings in a tight spot.

From that I got the impression you were having trouble with your old one staying on, which the new powered one remedied without having to manually keep it on the zerk. I thought maybe it came with one of those locking couplers. Apparently not?

Anybody ever use the pistol grip guns?

Sorry, misunderstood. It does not have a locker, but available. They’re $33. 4 of the fittings on the FEL are recessed and I’m not sure the locker would fit.

I still don't have one. I have 4-5 grease guns that stay loaded with different stuff. Marine, wheel bearing, multipurpose, and some good stuff for ujoints.

I don't want to pay for 4 of the damn things, but I could see how one would be very handy.

How easy is it to swap grease types in the DeWalt?

Don’t know, Ricky. I just got it and use once. I suspect they’re all pretty much the same in that regard. Got the dewalt as I have a bunch of batteries and two chargers.

I did buy one of the lock on grease gun tips. Worked awesome for a handful of zerks, then stopped working. Waste of $20.

The Dewalt seems to prime a bit more consistently than the Milwaukee. If you have batteries for one or the other you can buy adapters for $20 or so that lets you interchange.

They started installing auto greasers on all of our heavy equipment at work…. Pretty spendy but a neat idea when an oiler costs a 100 bucks an hour…. There are still some areas that it can’t be used like spinning parts…. Think drivelines, etc. but when you have up to a 100 zerks on a rig and 100’s of rigs I guess it makes sense.

I hope they work better than the ones installed on some of my customers trucks. They're a POS and never work.

No powered grease gun for me but the lube lock helps greasing equipment on the farm.

I have the LockNlube doohickey. When it works it's great but mostly it doesn't.

That was my experience. I called them and they said they would send new parts. I asked them why would I try to rebuild something I just bought. They are a P.O.S.

My guess is that the doohickey works correctly depending on certain dimensions/geometries. If it works, it's great but it doesn't work all on Zerk fittings even those that are supposed to be the same size.

Some of our techs at work tried it too and gave up. They went to the needle nozzle for machinery and test stands. Not the puncture type but the tapered needle. You need to press firmly but minimal mess.

Been using the Milwaukee (everything I have is on the Milwaukee platform so I have 20+ batteries) for several years on my equipment. One tip to not have to struggle priming it is when it’s empty unscrew the tube before you pull the spring back to remove the grease cartridge. Replace your cartridge and screw it back together and release your spring. Works every time that way and o go through a case or two of grease every winter.

But yes to agree with all I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to get one. Made my life underneath tractors and loaders so much shorter.

If you get the DeWalt, weld the pressure relief valve shut and put a lock-n-lube on it. Thank me later. I use mine all the time on the farm

I’ve had Lincoln’s, dewalts, Milwaukee and makita grease guns and the makita has been the best by far.
