Std motor in the super duty. 7.3 is a 1700 dollar option . Anybody have the 6.8 and how is it working for you? Mb

Don’t own one but have driven one. It’s a beast. Didn’t seem like much of a step down from my 7.3. Helluva lot better than the 6.2

Stix thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to know. My 2016 f150 has the 5.0l v-8 with 385 hp and 367 ft lbs torgue with 3.73 ratio. It pulls my 22' rv like nothing there 10 -12 mpg but the trailer is a 79 and I want something newer. Been looking at a used 2015 30' Cherokee 2 axie that is 6592 dry wt and even wet at 7700 the owner says I won't have any problem with my f150. I get the priveledge of a test pull with my f150 to see if it will do it. But still looking down the road for a newer used superduty with 6.2 or newer yet with the 6.8l devct and 10 spd. On a new one the 6.8 is std and the 7.3 a 1700 dollar option. Which for 1700 is kinda no brainer but selection on base models is skinny. Supercab 4x4 with 8' box in a xl model on a new one runs 55k. With patience a guy might find a clean used truck but time is passing me by. Thanks for the clue sounds like 6.8 is a big improvement over the 6.2 yet not a major deduct from the 7.3. On the net the 7.3 is called the Godzilla motor and the 6.8 a mini zilla I get the meaning but not really a motor junky. Thanks again for the reply. Mb

You’re welcome. The 6.2 is good motor. Don’t get me wrong. We have two on the ranch with over 300k and no motor related issues. Both trucks have been run hard. But it’s not enough of a step up from what you have really imho.

Main difference that I can find is the 7.3 has a forged crankshaft while the 6.8's is cast. Do you plan on towing a lot with the truck? If so, the 7.3 might be the better option.

That was exact reason I asked the question . I have a 2016 f150 5.0l 4x4 super cab with 3.73' s I am looking at pulling a 30' rv with a dry weight of 6592. I get to test pull the camper with my f150 but if it isn't enough I'm trying to figure the options. Mb

Test pulled that 30' rv yesterday, my 5l and 373's seemed fine. Think I'll just stay with my f-150. Mb
