Well- I am giving up on the powerstroke diesel- too much $ I am actually looking at a jeep as I used to ahve one and miss my "go-kart".

Tomorrow (the 23rd of Apr.) I am going to look at a cj7 and a cj5- What is the difference? I used to have a wrangler but the cj bug has me.

I know there are some jeep nuts here- any help please?
Biggest difference is length and wheelbase. CJ-7 will be similar to your Wrangler while the CJ-5 is a good bit shorter. CJ-5 will be better on tight trails and the CJ-7 will be a little more stable.

Thanks for the info - I passed on the jeep - got a 97 toyota tacoma instead. Bout as short as the jeep (it feels so anyway) and that awesome 4cyl engine.

Thanks for the info tho.
Good choice! You now have the most reliable and best built pickup money can buy
The CJ-5 has an 83" wheel base, ended production in '83 hows that for a coincidence the CJ-7 has a 93" wheelbase and ended production in '86.

I had older Toyota 's & they were good units, sold my last Landcruiser in '91 & switched to Jeep CJ's, feel free to drop by my Jeep'n homepage for a look.

I had a 89 wrangler and a 88 toy- I have nothing against the jeep - i know what they can do - just so damn popular here in tx and amongst the military that its hard to really find one for the price I wanted to pay- Toy came along so I grabbed her up - Thanks for all the help guys!
You made the right choice Teal. No Jeep will ever hold up like a Toyota Flinch
When did the CJ 7 begin production?
CJ-7's began production in 1975... the rest, they say, is history!
I was watching a John Wayne movie from the mid 60s last week and a short and long wheelbase Jeep were prominently figured in the flick. It was called Hatari and was about a group that captured African game to be sold to zoos around the world. They also used an old Power Wagon, a late 40/early 50s Chevy truck and a cabover Jeep. I was wondering what those long wheelbase Jeeps in that age were refered to if not CJ-7s.

Take care,

John
