I need to replace the struts on my 2004 Tacoma,4wd, V-6, extended cab, TRD package.
What is a good brand. OEM is OK.
I see Monroe and MOOG and then some names I don't recognize.
I want to buy complete assembly with coil springs installed.
Thanks in advance for help
I buy most of my parts from
http://www.rockauto.com/ now. The cost/selection is better and I don't have to drive all over town looking for parts. They often have 5% off coupons that I'd try to use for a bigger purchase like struts.
As far as which brand is best, I haven't noticed a big difference between them but only do struts every 100-150K.
I buy a lot of parts from Autozone. They have a lot of stuff with lifetime warranties and they're easy to work with. They also have loaner tools for specialized jobs.
I suppose it depends on what you want the strut to do. I have bilsteins I got from
http://wheelersoffroad.com/ that can come fully assembled with spring and makes for an easy swap. The struts and springs were an upgrade over factory and it has a better on and off road ride. My next set will be Fox coilovers.
I too purchased a set from Wheeler's Offroad, but I went with a complete set from Old Man Emu, including coilover springs. I'm very happy with the setup.

Since I didn't get a response fairly soon, I bought a set from Rockauto.com. Couldn't beat the price. OEM specs.I don't do any off roading with this truck. It my wife's.Ij ust get to service it
Bilstines are the best ones, I put adjustable ones the front of my Tacoma and lifted the front just a bit to help level the truck off better.
I ordered them off the internet..
In fact I think Toyota uses a white brand bilstine.
I put on 5100 bilstine series ...
LOL. I misspelled it .. They are Bilstein shocks...
