Any suggestions for brands of shocks to buy or avoid. The shocks are for my 2000 F150 4wd. I do 90% of my driving on the highway or good gravel roads. Maybe 10% 4wd drive trails driven at slow speeds, not "Baja" style. It has standard tires and 16" AL rims. Thanks for suggestions.

I've had good luck with Rancho shocks on a cupple of rigs. They firm up the ride a bit, but help with handleing also....

I had the Rancho RSXs on my Z-71. They are kinda like the Edelbrocks where they self adjust with different types of terrain. Nice and smooth in town,but stiffin up when off-road.

I would have put them on my 2500HD,but Rancho doesn't make them for HD type trucks.

I went with the Rancho 9000s and like them,but have found I hardly ever adjust them anymore. The first couple weeks it was like having a new toy and I was always messing with the settings. I discovered I like them at the stiffest setting so I just leave them maxed out now.

If I were to do it again,I'd get a set of Bilsteins.

I used Rancho in the past with great results. I have the adjustable Rancho 9000x's on my D'max and with a little over 50k on them its time to replace them. I'd use Rancho again just not the adjustable ones but I'd also try Billsteins.

Edelbrock, Bilstein, or Pro-Comp. Not a big fan of Ranchos for serious use.

Look into Monroe Sensatracs. I've used them on Explorers, T-100s , F-150s and my Tundra will get them when it is time. Great shocks. Shop around though. I have seen them anywhere from $27.00 to $55.00ea on the same day! I think Monroe makes an upgraded version now too. You will not be disappointed.
