Don't get me wrong. The truck is a good truck but I just hate the idea of spending so much money on a truck and have to deal with these issues. My older (cheaper) trucks never did anything like this. They also didn't have this much power either so everything is give or take.
I've never had that kind trouble with my duramax. It will regen, but it has never been any limp/keep driving/warning trouble. The dmax will not regen below 30 mph but it will keep the idle up to keep exhaust gas temps up. Stopping and starting during regen (interrupted regen) is no problem. It has put out big billowing clouds of white 'smoke', which is actually unturned fuel vapor, during a regen but that has seemed to clear itself up. Dealer claimed it was 'Normal', which is total bs. I agree the regen process sucks.
