What do you think, are they good, and worth extra money?

I've had good luck with them. Don't know what you're comparing them to cost wise. I buy mine at Costco for about the best price around.
12v automotive and Deep Cycle for the boat and trailer.

I think they deserve their reputation.
And if my buddy's alternator/starter shop is open when I need,
that's what I buy. (They do volume wholesale pricing. He passes some of that on)

Otherwise, a privately owned parts house sells Deka.


But, I have only had a battery or two die an untimely death.
Not counting frozen, neglected ones.

No problem with them but I get good life out AC Delco and a couple of other brands too.

Well, unless I want to drive 150 miles one-way, Interstate is the only choice that I have. I have used them for factory replacement in a number of vehicles for the last 25 years or so, and I have never had to replace one. We also used them in all of the trucks and heavy equipment down on the ranch.

I think that the one in my 2012 Tundra is four years old, and I know the one that was in our 2007 Tacoma was six years old when we sold it. Our little "tire shop" here keeps a variety of them in stock, and they can get them delivered next day if they don't have the on that you need. Beats having to take a day off to run to a "real" town.

Both of my last two pickups have had interstates in them when I bought them. Strangely both have just all the sudden quit with no warning. No extreme temperatures or anything, just fine one day and won’t charge the next.

I just buy NAPA batteries now, we have a small NAPA store at the COOP so it’s convenient and the only choice without driving 20 miles to another town.

I use them in my tractor. I have had 4 if memory serves in the last 8 years. They keep dying, but the warranty is still good enough to keep getting them. As I recall 2 were so knew when they went bad I didn't have to pay anything for the replacement.

yeah Costco gets my battery business also....best backup and best warranty along with BEST pricing...

if I'm not mistaken Interstate Batteries are a brand that are made by Gould Batteries in the Twin Cities, MN.

They make a bunch of private label stuff....for a lot of companies...

so when shopping for batteries, despite different brand names, they are out of the same manufacturer...

kinda like ALL 17 HMR stuff, regardless of brand are pretty much all made in Idaho by CCI/Speer.

My last interstate battery installed in my ford f-150 cost me $167 bucks and made it 2 years.Never again I went with Deka(east Penn) this time around.

I've had good service from interstate, to the point that I would seek them out over other brands. I believe they are a Johnson controls battery. Most private label batteries are from one of the major battery manufacturers.

I have 2 6V Interstate golf cart batteries on my camper. They aren't cheap but I've never come close to running them down. Costco sells a yellow top version but they have much less reserve capacity of the good green top ones. The green top ones sell for about 50% more but have 400% more capacity.

Is there a red top?

I have used them for 15 years in trucks, boats and four wheelers... they make a good product and it costs half of what the others do. Only place I will buy batteries
