Does anyone have the 6.2L in a 2019 GMC or Chevy truck, and if so, how do you like it? This only a pipe dream at the moment, but hopefully in the next year, I'll be trading in the Silverado on the GMC Sierra AT4, or back to a Dodge Ram 1500. I have experience with the Dodge Hemi and 5.3L Chevy motor, but the 6.2L is really interesting to me. Just looking for any real world experiecne, and how is the "real world" gas mileage in it if you have one?

That 6.2 is completely different from the SBC and LS series, it's a great engine. A friend just got his '19 Denali 6.2. Really a nice truck and he likes it. I've been driving diesel since '04 and wouldn't go back to gas. Now my friend also has a '13 Denali diesel which he's selling. He likes the new gas truck but misses the diesel power, says he wishes he'd bought another diesel instead.

My supervisor has a ‘19 Denali with the 6.2. It’s a raped ape running SOB and he drives it as such. He’s only got 2500 miles or so on it since it’s his “going to town” truck and he has about 3 other daily drivers. I’d be surprised if he gets over 10mpg due to driving habits, when he turns onto the highway it’s on the floor until he hits 90-95 and then he sets the cruise.

Wish they would put that engine in the 2500 supposed to not be a HD engine? GM is coming out with the 6.6 gas engine in 2020 and its going in the 2500 may wait for it.

Please post actual mileage with the 6.2 gas and how they are holding up tired of lack of torque in my 1500 5.3 04 Silverado for towing.

Does the 6.2L still require premium gas for claimed power output and economy? GM used to state that 87 octane could be substituted, but with reduced power and fuel mileage.

I got my 2019 AT4 2 weeks ago. 6.2, 10 speed and i put 34”x11.5” Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. I love the truck and the 10 speed is smooth as silk.

I traded a 2014 Denali 6.2 that had slightly larger KO2s. Loved that truck too but 5 years and 90k miles was enough for me once i saw the 2019s and the AT4 option.

I’ve only got about 600 miles but so far getting about 17mpg with mixed driving (and heavier tires). In this truck and my ‘14 i’ve always run premium gas per GM recommendation so can’t comment on what happens if you don’t.

I looked at them, but settled on the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, Duramax w/Allison 6 speed. The research I did said unless premium gas is used,the performance isn't there. Although diesels cost more overall to run, the added expense of premium gas zeros out the fuel mileage advantage.The gasser might be ok for flatlands, but can't compare when pulling in the Rockies. Out on the highway empty I have gotten 18mg, city 15 average. I have about 1600 miles on mine. Going down the road,I feel like I am in a luxury sedan.

The other day, I went to the gravel yard and had 6 tons loaded into my 14'ft dump trailer. The Duramax didn't even grunt.Scales showed 19,700 pounds total truck,trailer gravel. If you don't need the pulling/load capacity,you will be good to go with the 6.2 though.

In my AO, the resale on the used Duramax/Allison is remarkable.

I thought I would circle back around to this, especially since Chevrolet has introduced the straight 6 diesel for 2020 in the Silverado 1500. They claim it's going to cost the same as the 6.2L V8. I am going to wait and see which trim packages they offer it in, and then when they do year in closeouts in 2020, I may trade the 16 Silverado 1500 in on it. I also want to see the new Ram 1500 Diesel that is back.

I watched an info video on the new 6.6 gas it has a variable oil pump not sure how that could be a good thing.

Well, right now the new truck is going to be a dream. I have two job offers leaving Afghanistan going back AK, but they are not at the salary I was hoping for. I'm starting salary negotiations on one, and I'm still waiting an official offer on the DoD job. I'm probably going to take the DoD job, as they actually offered me another position being a supervisor earlier this week. Since I don't have my VA rating yet, they had to pull that offer. If I could have gotten it, they said in a year I would have jumped two GS spots, which salary wise would be great. I am still in the running on a job with an insurance company as well and a final decision will be made next week I'm told. Either way, I'll see where I'm at financially next year at this time and reevaluate. The wife has a new job offer as well, but her boss told her today, that he is giving his resignation next week and she is inline for his job. So now she's second guessing the new job offer she has. Oh well, at least this is a good position to be in. It could be I was losing a job.
