Any Body Bow Hunt Elk in Unit 700?
Let me know your thoughts, and any info!
For that matter, any Elk hunting in this Unit at all?
Thanks in Advance.
Guided for an Outfitter there. We leased private lands in the Colestrip area. Some block management in the area we were in .
Where in 700 are you hunting ?
Never hunted in that part of the breaks.
I know the breaks well. That being said they cover a bunch of country. Private land is hard to get permission to hunt . It is leased to outfitters so provides income
to the owner. There is the Musselshell side, and then the Missouri side. Some people use boats because the lake side is all public land.
Fort Peck Lake is a very dangerous lake. Do not try to use small boats. It can be calm one minute and roaring waves the next. It will take homework to find a spot .
That's good info, thanks a lot!
Yeah boats are the way in from the outfitter!
HH,
Thanks, I did see those links, but I do appreciate it!
Huntershooter58: Your welcome ! Randy Newberg as well as others have hunts in the Missouri Breaks on You tube.com I had a FB friend " Big Jim" from Bowsite.com who had a cabin/hunting home there, and he had hunted there many years, but he died a few years ago. He actually died there on his last hunt. Sorry I can't be more help. HH
HH,
Not a problem, as I am able to accumulate a fair amount of knowledge, as My Son and His Hunting Buddy will hit that Area the end of this week on Friday!
Bow hunting for Elk is their plan, as they were able to draw some pretty hard to draw tags!
They have an Outfitter Familiar with that area for 20 yrs. and were able to set up 2 one on one Hunts!

Yeah were always trying to plan two yrs. out!
Working on next year, and talking about the following!
Can't get too crazy,as far as plans go,with draws and such, so were pretty flexible!
I’d love to talk to your son about his experience in unit 700. A buddy and I drew that tag this year. Not looking for spots but just some general information.
