I have a type 7 tag in hunt area 56 which is mainly west of Cody. The season runs from October1 thru December 21. I will be driving from Texas, so I plan on giving it at least 2 weeks. Im thinking late November. I have a friend in Cody that will be keeping an eye out for the elk to start moving out of the park. Any suggestions or insights. I will be taking two rifles, a winchester m70 featherweight 280 rem, with 150 Nosler Part. The backup will be a Tikka t3 270win 145 Hornady eldx. Thanks for any feedback.

You have to be off of the forest so I bet later is how you'll get in to cows. Big snow pushes them out and to lower ground. You'll need them to get down to the BLM and any state lands, private if you have access.
Your rifles and loads sound fine.

Could be a tough hunt. Most of the land off the Forest is private and pretty well under lease. Plus timing is crucial. Need a big snow to move them and often a couple days and they have all moved onto the private.
