My oldest (12) daughter was able to get her first elk yesterday. She has worked her whole life for this. It has been a huge goal for her since a very young age for this moment to happen and I wish I had the words to explain how hard she sincerely worked for this.
She used her lefty Tikka .308 win, 125 gr. Accubonds @ 3000 FPS. Shot was 281 yards off my trigger sticks. Hit back of the lungs.
There is no doubt something special about the first deer. But that first elk is on the next level. To say I’m proud doesn’t quite cut it…

Fantastic! Congrats to both of you - good stuff!!
All her hard work has paid off. Congrats to her. Great job young lady. Congrats to you Dad for your support and guidance.
Most excellent, tell your daughter congrats. Looks like her hard work paid off.
So awesome! How did that 125 accubond do, aside from the obvious result?

Great job and a wonderful hunt!
Tagging along and seeing dad do it sure helped prepare her for her turn, well done!

It worked great! Was under the off side hide. Definitely on the light side for elk, of course. But a lung shot elk is a lung shot elk. Most importantly is she can shoot this rifle and shoot it well. That is what matters most when it comes to killing elk.

Thank you all very much! She really enjoys the comments! I appreciate them as well.

Awesome! Congratulations to both of you! Memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks for sharing the pictures and best wishes for many more memorable hunts together.
That's Awesome, Good for her. 281yds off the sticks makes it even better. Good shot. I'm sure she had lot of good instructions from Dad. I'm happy for the both of you. Her first one only happens once. I don't think it could have turned out any better for you and her.
WOW! Congratulations to the hunter and her guide. I can see the look of confidence in the young lady. No doubt she can and will accomplish anything she puts her mind to! Well done!
Fantastic! Congratulations to all involved.
Thanks for sharing. Puts a grin on my face.

A lesson I learned from hunting with my daughter as well. I grew up in a family that didn't hunt. So when I started I made the mistake of reading too much about stuff, and always chased the latest and greatest. My daughter has pretty much stuck to one cartridge and shot it very well, and has killed a pile of whitetail as well as elk, mule deer, pronghorn and various varmints with her .308 Win.
I hope our daughters get to hunt together again in the future. Tell yours I'm proud of her as well!
Awesome stuff!! Congrats to the young lady!
Outstanding and congrats you both!!!
Atta Girl. Perfect rifle she can use it for the rest of life.
Excellent!
Please give her my "congratulations from Wyoming".
Fantastic! Congrats to your daughter and you!
I was very proud of my son when he shot his first elk—it was also his first big game animal.
Outstanding..............I am sure the memories will long outlast the elk steaks.
Congratulations from a fellow lefty!
