My buddy and I played the percentages and as luck would have it, we got drawn for a late bull hunt in Arizona Unit 5A. I have made a couple trips to scout and found a few places that interest me. Just this past weekend found two really nice shooters and a raghorn 5X. The problem is, alot of other forums and friends are suggesting a completely different area...the same different area. I don't won't to camp in a parking lot, if "everyone" is hitting the same area. Without naming places in hopes of not tainting anyone's opinions, who's got ideas of where I should be looking in Arizona 5A for late season bull?
I'm not much of a elk hunter but tyPically dying the latE hunt the bulls will be in the deepest nasty canyons they can find.
I went along with my son in law when he had that tag 3 years ago. Those elk have been chased since Sept in both the archery season and then cow seasons. The big bulls have been pushed down into the deep canyons where there is no pressure. There will still be some out along the rim until the snow moves them North towards Winslow.
Hunt the cedars north towards winslow as there should be snow on the rim by then, if no snow, anywhere along the 300 rd will hold bulls
