My current .338 Win Mag has a 1:11 twist. Is that fast enough to handle 225 gr Barnes TTSX or am I going to have to drop down to 210s? Thanks...

Gary, not sure if exactly what twist is needed, but if this is of any help... We're running 225 TTSX 's in my wife's Win. Model 70. using RL 22. Getting decent accuracy (around 1 to 1 1/4 3-shot groups), and very good velocity 2950 (according to my Chrony). I hope that might have been of some use! Good Luck memtb

While I'm pretty sure the 225's will stabilize, especially in Colorado, you might try JBM's twist-rate formula (www.jbmballistics.com) which includes a factor for plastic tips.

Thanks for the input. It will be 225s until proven otherwise...

1:10 will do it... spins 225 accubonds and 250 accubond and partitions just right. I know I didn't help in answering your question on 1:11, but wanted to at least define a control limit. Shoot some 225's and see how they group, then you'll know. Sorry for the limp answer.
