Has anyone used the 338 win mag precision hunter ammo with 230 ELD-X on elk? I am wondering how the bullet performed.

Terminal performance will be basically the same as the 225 sst. Place your shots carefully at close ranges, very large wound channels on broadside shots. I've killed a few with the sst anywhere from 35 yards out to around 575, it has been my go to bullet in 338 wm the last 5 years. That said, I do have some ELD-X coming to work up a new load, I think the bc jump will be worth it.
