Bow season starts Sept 1 , rifle season Sept 10( 6 spike open season) Personally, there should only be one start date for all. Bowhunters have their advantages- a one spike is legal. Elk numbers have declined around here and we are on an up build.
A 10 day bow season? or are the overlapping?
"Bowhunters have their advantages"..........have you ever tried it? There is a reason the success rates hover around 15/100. Most of those 15 are the ones that are very good at it and get one every year. If those same guys were carrying rifles - they would never go without. Hunting public lands ain't like they show on TV.
Bow season here is a month. In most units, rifle season is 2 to 3 weeks but there are a lot of exceptions. We have tags in a cow hunt that runs 6 weeks.
Bow season Sept 7 - Oct 20. General rifle Oct 26 - Dec 1. Our elk are finally rebounding now that wolf numbers are shrinking.
Elk season on the Gulf Coast starts............wait for it............umm, never.
Bow season here in Colorado , most of Sept. with 9 day muzzle loaded right in the middle of bow. Rifle starts in mid Oct. ( for the most part ) thru the first of Nov. for the most part. Then the elk head down in my area onto the Ute Indian reservation & are hunted there. Wonder there are any elk left. If we had wolfs there would be nothing. "O" ya, & there are the poachers.
Colorado eastern plains season Sept 1st to Jan 31st. Any elk.....
Rule #1: Go forth and hunt elk in places there are lots of elk.
Rule #2: Forget Washington. There are more elk hunters than elk. LOL!
Right across the road from our home..... Rifle season General Elk opened on the 15th. Though, most of the elk are hanging-out on private property! memtb
