Saw 10 elk . 8 cows with each having a calf and 2 bulls
Snowing today . Hope we can get in there next week!

No snow here in S.W. Idaho. Maybe some in the high country this weekend.

8 cows with each having a calf plus 2 bulls is 18 elk not ten...

Cookie and I used to do 4 or 5 days of preseason scouting, always finding great potential. Something would always occur within 1 or 2 days of the opener that would scramble the whole landscape. Fire, stock moved in, a flood of other hunters, or a significant weather shift that would put all to naught. Have pretty much quit scouting even though it's a great excuse to get out there.

Heading to Idaho on Saturday. North of Wallace. Hoping for elk, deer and wolf.
