Been lurking for a while and just joined. Does anyone load a 200 gr. Accubond for a 338 Win Mag? I see they are available for the 338 Federal and the 325 WSM, but can't find anything for the 338 Win Mag. If not any recommendations for a factory 338 elk load? I've used my 30-06 the last 5 years but would like more energy at long range.

About the closest your going to get is the Federal Premium with a 210gr NP. If you really want the Accubond, both Winchester and Federal load the 225gr Accubond.

If you're going to shoot much with that 338, I'd suggest reloading your own. My cost of components is about $13.00/ 20 rounds using 225 Nosler Partitions. Considering what factory ammo costs, you recoup your costs quickly. Plus you can load down for practice if you desire.

I reload and have used 200 grain BTs in my .338-06 with good success (one 5x5 bull was taken at about 36 yards) and the bullet performance was all that you could ask for). I have never used this bullet in my .338 Win Mag, but I believe that Mule Deer has, and you should PM him or post on the "Ask the Gun Writers" forum. I am trying to develop a load with the 185 grain TSX in the .338 WM "just for fun", but have not tried it on game. I pretty much agree with John that if you are using a .338 caliber, you should be looking at 225 grain (and above) bullets--otherwise, one of the .30s would be just about as good. Factory loads tend to be in or just on either side of the perceived "mainstream", and 200 grain bullets in the .338 WM are probably not to be found.

Hey dogballs Federal loads 6 different grs for your 338. I would reccomend the TSXs. This bullet has been very good to me for as long as it has been out. I load the 210TSXs in my 338 RUM and it shoots under .5. Anyway with that said you don't have to go with a heavier bullet if you use a premium bullet like the tsx. Just my opinion but heavier is not always the answer. HAPPY HUNTING.

The 210 gr PT is an awesome bullet in 338 Win Mag for elk. This bullet penetrates much better than you would think.
Having said that, the 225 gr weights are terriffic in the 338's.

I have not killed anything other than paper, but my 338WM likes 72grs H4350 and 200gr AB's. Have not chronied yet, but it is accurate and may become my everything rig.

I have been using the 200 gr AB for target shooting out to 450 yds in my 338 RUM. ALthough the recovered bullets I have fron water jugs is impressive, I am a PT guy at heart so I will continue to use the PT for hunting in the big 338.
