Hey guys, I'm stuck living in So Cal. and normally my hunting is done back home in Oregon.
But, this year my boy, Hunter, who's turning 9 asked me if we can go Shed hunting.
Honestly, I'm not in the mood to drive 1000 miles one way for a weekend hike, So AZ is the next closest Elk state.
I am NOT looking for your spots or hunting spots. I just need some general area guidance as the drive will be 6-8 hours one way.
Please feel free to PM me.
Thanks

May want to check and see if they have any regulations on shed hunting, some states do.

AZ doesn't....

Go in March/April in units below the rim. Don't be afraid to hike in stuff below 5k feet, in fact that's where I'd go...plan on a lot of miles....

Unit 9 gets hit pretty hard by shed hunters.
The Boquillas ranch in unit 10 is closed to recreation until Aug 2. https://huntbigboranch.com/notices/?doing_wp_cron=1579464203.0137319564819335937500
Keep abreast of the snow amounts to see if the elk are above or below the Mogollon rim when they drop antlers.
Check about road closures as many do not open until spring turkey season due to snow. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/coconino/home/?cid=stelprdb5441646&width=full

Went to your gallery. Your photos are exquisite.

Can't beat the American West for sheer beauty, imo.
