When was the antelope pic taken?
I don't know. It's not my photo. They normally start to shed in late November when the new horn underneath starts to grow.
Looks like late Decemberish, maybe a little into January. Schedules of individual bucks vary.

A type of burr. We have them here. Ticks wouldn't be on the surface like that. They'd be down to the skin in a hurry.
