Found one at an estate sale - blued steel Hart action, stainless Hart barrel, fiberglass benchrest stock, 6x scope.

Could it still be competitive? I figure it was the hot setup 20-30 years ago - but does Hunter Benchrest competition even still exist?

If I pick it up cheap and I don't like it - is it worth anything in today's market, or have I just dumped my money down a rathole?
Hunter Benchrest activity has cooled off, primarily due to the availability of good 6x scopes. The biggest of activity is in the upper Midwest...where I live. In fact, I just finished a Hunter gun for next season to shoot the Two Gun Score events.

The case capacity rules have been dropped so most opt for the 30BR or a variant with 17-18 twist barrels.

If you're interested in rehoming it, let me know...might be able to help you.

Good shootin' -Al
Hey Al -

Thanks for responding. My brother just picked up that rifle and 4 others. I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 of them with 6x scopes with target turrets and AO - Leupold, Burris, Weaver. One of the 4 is a 6 PPC and the rest are .308, as far as I know.

If you have any interest in any or all, I'd be happy to send pics.
