The last time I was at the range I picked up my brass and some that had been left by a previous shooter.

I was depriming & cleaning the brass tonight and separating headstamps when I noticed the stuff I had picked up was a new-to-me brand.

It is headstamped BHA 223 Match.

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Is it of good quality or a knock-off that I need to be wary of? If it IS good quality, where could I find more?

I didn't find a lot of it, but enough to try some different loads in it.

Thanks,

Ed

I recall hearing (some time ago) that 'BHA Match' should read 'Winchester'... whether or not thats true, dunno. Anything of questionable pedigree goes in the bin for feeding the bullet hose, where I'm not too worried about individual brand/lot variance.

YMMV,

Thanks, Monte.

The primers were snug, almost as if they were crimped (but were not) and it looks to be a bit heavier brass.

I haven't broken out the mics yet to check thickness, etc., but it looks different.

If I can't figure out whether it's something special, it too, will go into the "blaster" pile.
I have a couple of old boxes of Hornady 55gr FMJ w/cannelures for my nephew & grandsons to play with. grin

It's Black Hills. It's fine brass.

IIRC that brass was heavier than "normal" and I thought it weighed out close to the same weights as Hornady brass.

I don't know that it means anything though, just comments.

Had to readjust max loads when using it, but other than that it was not bad brass.

Thanks, gentlemen. I also have some Hornady brass segregated out. I'll check against it.

BHA is Black Hills Ammo as stated above. It is Winchester brass, which is why it is heavier than LC brass. It's good stuff.

I run the BHA Match in my .308 interchangeably with Winchester. IMO, it is more consistent and requires less prep than standard WW brass.
