I always used the handles that came with my Sinclair turner, to turn cases with. Hard work. I never bought expander mandrels for my turner and am not sure they were even available in 1991. But those things changed when the brown truck ran Friday. I have just turned 100 6.5/284 cases easier than any 5 cases beforehand. I looked the Sinclair catalog over and purchase a caseholder and the drill attachment. WOW, what a difference. I use 18 vold Dewalt drills in my work so I ran the tool real slow in the variable slow speed with a dot of oil on the turning mandrel for cach case. I have a .288" chamber neck and turned them to .0112" this is a tad more than .0015" clearance. I could get dangerous with the ability to turn cases soooo eaaaasy. I have been using a drill to turn with for a while. At first I used the Lee caseholders, but I recently bought Sinclair's and it is great.

I don't remember who mentioned an aluminum neck turner expanding and changing it's cut. I just finished turning 39 cases, and I had my 6 yr olf daughter hold my Sinclair NT-3000 (the big one) in her hand to warm it up. I had no problem keeping it that temp while using it. Doing all that resulted in very consistent necks, smooth and well within the .001" tolerance I usually shoot for.

Blaine, I thought you said you was anal! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Short Range BR guys have me convinced that more than .0002" variance is a no-no. Even with my tight necked .300 ultra I try to keep it less that .0005". This is one area I plan on experimenting with. I'm about ready to start using my new strain gauge equipment, plan on looking at neck tension and variation to see how it effects chamber pressures.
Ditto on the Sinclair case holder. I use my Dewalt to turn necks, gave up on the manual labor with the "T" wrench <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I am sure the acural variance on my cases is nil, since I am using the same equipment to turn as the little BR guys. However, my current system of measuring is accurate to .0005" at best. Most of the cases I measured barely moved the needle of the indicator at all, it's just I am reluctant to claim mucher better than .001" with my current measuring equipment. I am debating getting a case neck micrometer........
