Who are the top gunsmiths for a .22lr heavy? Not really looking for a BR gun, same barreled action in a more of a F-T/R Class stock.

Thanks

Call benchmark they make wonderful RF barrels..

Benchmarks are good barrels, but Shilen are winning the most matches. I'm getting ready to ship a 40X custom to Richard Gorham in Oklahoma. Richard is at the top.

Just found out that Gorham is pretty far behind. Gene Davis will be doing my Turtle Rifle.

Unless you need something custom-built, buying an off-the-shelf Anschutz match action and stocking it to your liking is a good option.

Butch,

What are Gene's and Richard's lead times?

You got lucky ... just got an email from him saying he is moving shops and Winter '18 is as early as he can get to one. Which is fine. Gives me more time to ponder the Anschutz option.

Creedmoor Sports has Anschutz barreled actions on sale:

I received my barrelled action a couple weeks ago. I've never had a more beautiful job than what Gene did. Beside chambering my barrel, he recontoured it, and he squared the front ring and single point cut the receiver threads.

Well I guess Gene had mine back in 4-5weeks?
