I have an AR556 with a one piece scope mount (aero precision) and a Leupold 3x9x40 scope. I'm looking for a brass catcher. Recommendations?
I had the same problem when I had one piece mounts on all my using rifles. They worked great and I loved them. But I wanted to use the Caldwell catcher that connects to a mount on the rail. With a one piece scope mount it was next to impossible. Just not enough room for everything.
Finally changed out all the one pieces for the Vortex high rings. Now I can mount a brass catcher on all my using rifles at the range or out in the fields.
When all you shoot is Lake City brass, you sure don't want to lose any more than you have to.
Also after having my lower back fused, the ground is kind of hard to get to these days. grin

Caldwell also puts out a brass catcher that mounts with a velcro strap around the hand guard. I never could get it tight enough to keep it from slipping down when the bag got a little weight to it. When I realized that it wasn't going to work I went to the rail mount.
I have a Brass Goat brass catcher that snaps onto the magwell. I will try and remember to post a picture of mine when I get home this evening.

I use the Lyman/TacStar and it works great. Get a few extra rail mounts from their website and you can easily move it from rifle to rifle.

I ordered that as it seemed the best for scoped rifles.
I'm going to give it a whirl as well. Probably just use it as a funnel and not bother with the catcher portion.
Yes, all my AR's use one-piece mounts.

Just snapped it on my rifle - fit perfect.
I use the caldwell rail mount and it works fine for me

Thanks for the heads-up; that looks very convenient. I just ordered one.
Heck I didn't know they made such a thing either.

Anything else out there that I don't know about?
E-bay has em $54.00 free ship.

Amazon was selling for $39.

I should point out that there are cheaper options if you have a rifle with lots of pic rail. This just seems like a good solution for those of us with a rifle lacking picatinny rail.
That looks like it would work good. I need to get one.

I have the mesh bag with a velcro strap that goes around the handguard. Works ok but that plastic clip-on thing looks like it would work better.
Looks more like it belongs. I hate losing brass as much as the next guy, for varmints and goofing off I use steel case.
At the bench is a different story unless there is 3' of snow on the ground.
I finally got around to making some pictures of the Brass Goat.

My Caldwell baggies are gonna get s***canned shortly.
Yep I wish i would have invented that, lots of shooters gonna sack the old ones.
It's to easy.
Got the Brass Goat yesterday. Pretty fast shipping. Thanks for posting about it, Beoceorl.

When I ordered, the price was similar between Amazon and Brass Goat, but the Goat quoted a quicker delivery.
I also thought it was better to send the money directly to the Goat people, and keep Amazon from getting their cut.
I just ordered one. It was easier to buy now before I lose the link. Shipping was $4.75. This is for the brass goat. I would rather order direct so Amazon did not take their profit.
Just ordered from Brass Goat website. Thanks for the heads up BEOCEORL!

Ordered two direct......got one.....
Bought one direct from Goat shipping to Alaska reasonable. For a leftie shooting an AR like the added protection.
Did some shooting with mine this morning - worked great.

A follow-up.

I had ordered two, they sent one.. I called yesterday and left a message as to what happened.

Got a call just a little while ago, the other one has been sent out..

I realize everybody makes mistakes and I will say they handled it well and in a timely fashion. They have my recommendation as a good place to do business with.
I did discover that the brass goat is not some sort of tactical accessory. If you hold on just the right angle, you can get a nasty jam caused by the brass bouncing back into the ejection port. I had that happen once when my grandson was shooting - ran fine for the adults.
Last update on the Brass Goat: had the grandkids out shooting again and a lot of rounds went through the AR. The Brass Goat worked perfect.
I have no regrets with my purchase. I definitely recommend the Brass Goat to anyone who hates policing brass out of the dirt.
Two arrived today shipped pronto. Hope to use one next week. As noted by others thanks for the heads up.
I’ve seen so many problems with the ones made with net that I admittedly just dismissed the thought of them but this one has made me think about them again.

Thanks
Can you use the brass goat thing on a bench, or is the part that collects brass too long? It looks almost as long as a 30 rd mag in the pics.

If you need it as low as possible, take off the dump. The brass will fall into a pile by your arm.

It is as long as a 20 round mag when fully assembled.

They make a Mini Hopper that makes shooting from the bench easier. You can have one chute that attaches to the magwell, and swap out the bins as needed.
