Or where can I find out?
Ruger AR556, cause his Colt 6920 was out for repair.
S&W M&P-15 bought by his 19 year old friend for him who was charged with supplying a minor with a dangerous weapon.

Antioch police, "our department did take possession of two Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Rifles"

Looks like he added a sling, magazine, and red dot sight.
Posted By: GreatWaputi Re: Thanks! - 11/11/21
If nothing else, that whole deal should show you the value of a good sling.
Posted By: Dillonbuck Re: Thanks! - 11/11/21
How did he manage to defend himself with anything less
than a top tier gun?

His friend must have thought his life wasn't worth much!

I think it was topped with a sightmark.

You should be able to search the web and find it at ARFcom.

Absolutely! Competitive shooters that use the kneeling position have use square toe shoes to stabilize that foot. Thinking they also used sell a cap that could be attached to the shoe.

Tactical Ariats?

But seriously, the sling........ Huge lesson there. He got knocked down to the pavement, drop kicked, & hit in the back of the head with an object. I don't think his right hand ever lost grip on the rifle. But if it had, his sling would have kept it in a reasonable position to be easily regripped.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what ammunition he was using. I know it was FMJ but what kind?
Posted By: viking Re: Thanks! - 11/15/21
Yeah I think the FMJ gets a bad rap around here. It’s nothing to scuff at, ask DD.

I have a drum loaded with it.
Posted By: TWR Re: Thanks! - 11/15/21
I shoot a lot of M193 and if impact velocity is sufficient and if it hits just right it can break apart creating a nasty wound. Notice a lot of if’s there?

There’s just better choices available with fewer if’s.
Posted By: Tyrone Re: Thanks! - 11/15/21
My cousin who was in VN said that M193 was like a chopsaw.

The Ruger did the job that night.

Far as I can tell, those are all the new CR models. I personally wouldn't own one.

Mine are LE/LEO.

Dang, and some of us had high hopes for CZ..... I like my old Colt as well... Runs like a Timex.. As far as Rittenhouse is concerned. What kind of ammo was he using? Steel cased or some other cheap azzed military chidt? I know there is a separate thread on the use of the FA, but I've never had to use one. I only run my handloads though... I'm also thinking that he has tons of experience with his rifle not loading ammo in all the way, as he was so quick to know to bump that FA when it didn't go into battery... So it was either a gun fault or cheap azzed ammo...

Or bad magazine or had 30rds loaded in the mag majors of the infantry only load 28rds. Some would go buy 20rd mags because they ran better blah blah. But wtf do I know..

bsa, I can't answer your initial questions. But, as you mentioned, Kyle must have had experience with this exact rifle running the exact same ammo, as he was quick to get on the forward assist to solve his problem. Probably very lucky for him to have had the negative experience(s) prior. Without the negative prior experience(s), it may have taken him an extra second or two that could have cost him his life. From all the video I saw, it looked like that mob had every intention to kill him, and he was out there on an island by himself.

As far as the CR Colts are concerned, as renegade50 mentioned in a thread a couple few months ago, since the military is no longer contracting with Colt on the M4's, inspection and quality control have suffered. If you dig around, you'll find reports of that sprinkled around on other forums.

If I was going to buy a new M4, it would be an FN or BCM.
If I was buying a new M4, it would be an FN.

Thanks, gemby. Good to know. Just picked up a BCM lower on sale last week. Hoping to find an upper for it on sale during Black Friday.

I've got an 11.5" BCM pistol and it's a great gun.

I re read your post see you were referring to colts qc going downhill. I thought you were referring to FN QC😁. I really don’t shoot AR’s that much to comment on good or bad. Me and the daughter shoot AR’s for competition mid range matches. I would ask 2 or 3 gun guys, they would probably be the ones to listen to .

Not going to argue with that.
