I have about 500 pcs of brass and 500 Remington Coreloct 115 grainers. I'd like to buy 1 powder in bulk for reloading. Any suggestions on what is the best powder for this combination. Thanks, 163bc
I've used H335 and H322 and gotten great groups. I know others report over on 6.8 forums that Re10 works well too. Might visit that site for a lot of load data. I can't help you much on specific load data, I've only used brass with small primers and 110 grain bullets, but they have some sticky's over there that will have your brass and bullet listed. In direct answer to your question, I don't know what the "best" powder is and I doubt anyone does, but there are several powders that work great and word on the street, maybe some new ones in the future. I think I would try at least 2-3 different powders first to see what works for you. I would hate to buy in bulk and find out your (AR I assume) doesn't care for that powder.

So many variables with an AR, especially a 6.8.....twist, gas system (car, mid, rifle) etc.

I'd buy a pound of H335, H4198 and maybe Benchmark and see what it likes.

you should be happy with 2500fps no matter what you twist a 115 with. IMR3031 is a very consistant and often overlooked powder.
27.5grs is a compressed load @2450fps out of my 6.8 and shoots 5 in an inch easily at 100 yds.
H322 is also a good choice and my go to load is 29.grs and a 110 Sierra @ 2670fps.
That was the good news, now here's the bad.
At 2670 fps and 300 yds you need 5 1/2 moa and at 500 you will need 14 moa or in internet terms that would be 6 ft of hold over with that same great shooting 100 yard zero.
Switching to a 90 gr hp unfortunately won't do any better at the same distances.
Probably the best way to describe the H322/110 Sierra is that at 215 yds it will weld into 1/2" steel plate impressively but at 360 yds it leaves dirty rat shot looking marks, nothing more.
I like my 6.8 a lot and and have learned to live with the good and the bad.

+1 for RL10X. Works for me but don't be afraid to try others, every rifle is different.

benchmark works in my 6mm version of the 6.8... don't have a 6.8 so can't help more than that..

Try a pound of 10X, and a pound of H322. 322 is awesome in both my 6.8's. So now I'm sitting on 10#. wink

RL-10, H322, Ramshot Xterminator...with RL10 the best in my rifles (with 100-115 gr bullets).

Thanks for the replies & good info fellas. I aim to load up a bunch of these for general plinkin. I think I'll start with RL-10 and H322. Is there a recommended primer with these powders?? Thanks again, 163bc
I'm far from an expert on the primer issue, so do as I say and not as I do. Look for primers with a harder cup. The mil spec #41 primer has a reputation of being a good one. CCI 450's are another. I hope others chime in with some other recommendations and comments.
I've been using CCI 400 because I have a bunch and they are old stock and I want to use them up, I've had no issues, but if I didn't have any primers and needed to buy some then I'd be looking for a primer intended to be used in an AR style rifle.
Wolfe also makes some primers intended for use in AR rifles. When I work my way thru my current stock I'll move to the harder cupped primers.

If it's Remington brass it will be LP, if that then anything is fine. If SP, then treat it just like a .223 AR and avoid Federal.
Yep, Foxbat is right. Sorry I spaced out he was using Remington brass. I've never used any Remington brass. I just got home from buying some H322 and plan to do some loading with 110SPH's tomorrow. Good luck with the 115's.

You mean LR and SR, don't you?

When you posted "LP" I thought you'd mistakenly typed "Large Pistol" when you meant "Large Rifle", etc.

Sorry if I made it confusing, was just abbreviating large primers and small primers.

I've got the best results with 29.5 gr. IMR 8208 XBR and Magtech large pistol primers. 115 SMK, Rem. Brass.
Your results may vary.
