i am leaning very heavy on getting a 24", s.s., fluted, dpms lr-308.
read lots of good things and some bad.

since the 260 model came up, i thought i'd ask here if anyone has/had one and what they think/thought of it.

i know they aren't light as i have several ar's and one being a s.s. fluted .223 model all tricked out.

how was accuracy with what ?

is a riser needed on one as like a 223 flat top ?

i hate extra high rings, so a 1 piece mount would be the way to go for me.

trigger's ?
are ther aftermarket triggers like jewel or jard, etc, available for these, or are they the same trigger groups ?

and a magpul prs stock is a definate.

thanks,
A LR is a precise long range rifle. Replace the grip, get a good trigger ( http://www.americantrigger.com/ is the best) and leave the stock alone. For proper cheek weld Extra High rings are a must. It will be a sub MOA rifle.

That's all you need to do (and realize it will weigh 12 pounds all up)

If you want a " door kicker", that's a whole different AR.

Been there with a 260, 308 and 300 SAUM. All worked fine but none were "walk about" rifles.

Good shootin'
so, no one else own's one ?
Ive heard the same things...some good some bad but holy crap, you get that on everything.Since they got the Dept.of Defense contract I would assume they are pretty good.I think you can spend more but why? Most AR parts are interchangable so I dont see where you could go wrong.Just ordered my DPMS last night in the LR308 platform for $990.00 to my FFL.
DOD contract? Sure like to see that.
BIL has a DPMS... in 308 but carbine barrel. According to him it shoots good, he can't hit squat most of the time though due to shakes on game so I can't quite say...I've never been one to pull the trigger unless I knew it was dead... he runs differently...

I will say it jammed a few times on a hog hunt and is rough on brass feeding it to the chamber... which means we'll pull it apart and deburr the lugs on the extension and polish the feed ramp and then try again.
Yo Splat,

I have a bud that is BIG into 'semi-automatic-sporting-weapons' and he can afford any AR-10 out there....and he has a LR-308. Maybe not as frou-frou fancy as Armalite (look down yer nose when ya say that), but the gun is stinkin' silly accurate!

I am curious about the Lite Hunter but have not been able to handle one as yet.

I also have another bud that has a Rock River and the finish is a little nicer....but it is not compatible with any other AR components so everything you do to it costs more, and the other-caliber uppers are few in caliber and hi in price.

So go with the DPMS an be proud...Brudda!
you betcha...
also the rra take fal mags.
i have quite a few of those.
but, for an ar type rifle.
nope.
a friend has a bushmaster iirc, that takes fal mags, i didn't like it.
i just sold my lr -308, it was listed here in the classifieds, the gun shot very well better than i could shoot it, i had a timney trigger in it, a magpul stock, tac latch, and i used burris extremes mediums and it fit me personlly perfect, i will say that it was extremely heavy for a carry/walkabout gun. Mine had the 18in heavy pipe Ron
