I once had a square front bag with a concave top and did not find it steady. The bag rocked forward and back and the forearm rolled side to side. The front bags that grip on both sides like a hotdog bun look more steady, but I have never tried one.

With a gripping front bag does it make sense for the rear bag to be a wedge or with ears. I would be most interested in using the rear bag to adjust elevation with my non shooting hand.

Bishmaster, were you using an optic? If so, which one?

Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40mm adjustable objective on the front bell. I really like the AO.

I'm curious why the "6:00 hold" when using a scope? Why not hold the crosshairs directly on the bullseye?

(I'm not saying you're wrong to do that, the target posted gets your point across fine. Maybe you found it easier to aim for the thin green ring?)

Diamond shapes seem to work best for me. I often use tiny circles, though if using 15x to 20x magnification. I use PowerPoint to create my targets.

I like to draw a 2" "X" on my targets... it is a LOT easier to aim at the intersection of the lines than a dot or a diamond.

That makes sense, I've encountered that sometimes if the crosshairs cover the dot. Looks like you did just fine holding low.

Diamonds help, as mentioned above, or squares. I print off my own targets that have a fairly thick black 2" circle with a center dot on white paper; centering on the circle seems to work well.

RED to me, blurs so badly to the eyes it seems to be moving.

As always YMMV, but I run the black diamonds too. By far the best aiming points I've found over years.

I make them the size that makes me happy at X distance. Black outer diamond, paper color in the middle, IE white or buff.

Helps with the crosshairs vertical and horizontal too. Seems much easier to center also.

BUT the eye is supposed to be able to self center more or less. Of course thats why with irons, if allowed, on round bulls you use aperture fronts...
