I have CFE223 and TAC. I plan to load some 147gr FMJ bullets.Which powder works better?
Varget.
Seriously though, for 147 FMJs it doesn't matter. Crap in, crap out.

Yep.. Kind of like military ammo...
I have had a lot of success with TAC. But I’m running 150 gr Interlocks, so not junk bullets.

Thanks for the replies. I have a bunch of 147s and can get used to the rifle with some blasting ammo.
IMR 4064 is a good choice, Varget is another. Pretty much anything in the medium burning rate. Semi's don't like too fast or too slow burning powders or you'll run into malfunctions.
Thanks for the tip. I load for a M1 Garand using 168gr match bullets.
I've been using some AR Comp and have had good results so far.
I have very accurate loads with H4895 under 150 to 168 grain slugs fired from a DPMS GII Hunter.
I didn't have any luck with CFE223 and I haven't tried TAC.
Either one will work fine.
That said, I usually use 4320 in an ar10.
I run AR comp in mine. Odd man out I guess, however I run 168's, not 150's....:
Mine likes pp2000 mr and at comp. I get good speed and accuracy from pp2000mr with 175 bthp's in lclr brass. And it meters great which is handy when loading for a semi auto.

What kind of velocity are you getting with this load?
I went to the range yesterday. I loaded 46gr of TAC and 147gr FMJBTs. My 65 yo eyes with corrective lens aren't going to get me stellar accuracy with iron sights. I had the bullets and my Garand didn't like them. I wanted to get used to the rifle and using the 147gr bullets up in the process works for me. Federal milspec 7.62x51 150gr ammo gave me around 2650fps and the reloads gave me 2740fps. Thanks to all for your input.
Glad you found something that will work.
