Really liked this one that I saw today.

I have an older Rock River Competition model. Not light weight but it has been very accurate.
Posted By: boatanchor Re: Which AR - 04/21/20
Of the one's you list probably the Rock River, once you play with it you will want another and most likely build it from parts. I have one factory built AR and it is a Bushmaster that I bought more than 25 years ago, all my others in the last 25 years are all just built from parts and in my mind are better than any of the factory off the rack stuff.
Posted By: bsa1917hunter Re: Which AR - 04/21/20
Buy the one you want, then start pulling parts and replacing with ones you really want... Pretty much any factory built rifle is going to be that way, unless you special order it, if you can. If the RRA has all the bells and whistles you are looking for, I'd buy it. If not, look around a bit and see if there is one that suits your needs/style better... also, if you can go and look at used ones, that is sometimes a good route to take. Some guys may scoff at the suggestion, but I've found many used AR's at really good prices and they were damn good rifles. You just have to take them apart and make sure everything looks sound before you commit to buying it...

The RRA looks like a nice example if it's actually 6.2 pounds.

What style? M4 clone? Varmint rifle?

Yotes , massive ground squirrel shoots. and home/ranch protection. Prolly just put flip ups and was looking at the Sig Romeo 5 red dot type.

That Sig Tread set up with flip ups and Romeo exzactly the set up I'm looking for. Does the Rock river with its two stage trigger compare at all to the Sig?

You'll end up with two ARs.

I can use any of my ar's to do what he outlined. The fact he'll end up with 2, goes without saying. He'll probably end up with 4 or 5 or 10 like the rest of us.

Somewhere between 600 like 250-300 tops and on able to do close up chit in a pinch.. Hope the close up chit never goes down so....... But for now mostly Ranch work mowing critters down. I'm in Idaho so it is legal for deer but we got woofs too. The varmint exploding experience with the AR is just to much fun with plenty to shoot all day. A yote or 4 at night? sure

Well I went and did it! Had one built today. Aero Precision upper and lower,18" barrel 1:7 twist, Hogue rubberized grip and all the other goodies. Put some flip up sights on it Bought a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. blah blah blah etc All said and done a lil heavier than I wanted @ 7pds 10oz... After taxes $1106.. Paper work got a delay so unless they call I gotta wait until the 28th to snag it up! Been wanting one a long time! Love how it looks think I did good.. smile Exploding Squirrel day is coming quick!

What about something like this:

As I recall, Stag performed very well in the Black Rifle Challenge.
When Bud's has them they are usually around $850.00, and once they complete their move to Cheyenne, you would be supporting a great Wyoming Company.

Pics and a range review Shag...

Been a bit nostalgic lately for something very like the M16A1. But I can see advantages with lights and sights on modestly accessorized and more compact versions.

Anybody know if the Colt LT6720 is or ever will be available? If it's not, and won't be, what would it's nearest clone be?

Check out www.specialopstactical.com

They have very high quality rifles. People like to make fun of their name... go to their facebook amd read the reviews. Speaks for itself.

They make the sweetest rails, all one piece billet aluminum.

I like that one. I had a heavy barreled stag and it ran flawlessly. The only reason i got rid of it was because a new ar shooter needed a left handed ar really bad. I sold it to her and she loves it. Honestly, another reason i sold it was because i didnt like picking up brass on both sides of the bench. Stag makes a great rifle for their price point.

Mine multiply in the safe. The tikka's have been pretty horny lately too. At least they have good taste in optics grin

With those specs you can't do it with one upper. You need two different uppers. The lower definitely needs a 2 state trigger. Actually, you want 2 different rifles. you can't do it with just one. Actually, you might be able to do it all with 3 or 4 rifles. Build them the way you want them.

Or one gun and lever mounted optics.

I used to keep one higher powered scope in a LaRue mount and would switch it out when I wanted to go shoot steel. Then I got a couple of good 1-4's and I just use those for pretty near everything. I suppose one could up the ante and get a 1-8 with IR and be well set.

But 3 or 4 different guns is much more funner!

I got rid of bushmaster and Rockriver guns, Bravo Company make a very good gun for the money. If your just a casual shooter I guess anything will work, but sometimes things in life are not casual, so why waste your money on something that might break when you need it most?

"We know that not all ARs are the same, and only a fool believes that “parts are parts.”

extractor spring was replaced at 13,010 rounds.

two bolt lugs broke at 16,400 rounds

it was cleaned once (as in one time), at 26,245 rounds.

I have 2 Ballistic advantage barrels. Both have met my expectations and beyond. I am the weak link when it comes to accuracy.

For swapping optics Bobro is the best I've ever seen repeatable. I have not tried a La Rue but I know bobro is cats azz. FWIW. If the La Rue works then no worries, just tossing another proven option out there too.

See if you can slide your scope back and forth on the rail. Bobro has had its share of problems.
